April is Financial Literacy Month—Celebrate with Us!

April may bring lots of showers to prep for May flowers—but it also brings lots of fun at Extra Credit Union! April is Financial Literacy Month AND National Credit Union Youth Month—an entire month dedicated to encouraging and empowering both young and old to learn more about finances and increasing financial literacy efforts in the United States! And we are so excited to celebrate one of our favorite months with YOU!

IDENTITY THEFT, FRAUD, AND SCAMS SEMINAR

Extra Credit Union is partnering with the Center Line Public Library for this important and informative seminar. Unfortunately, scammers and fraudsters are constantly finding new ways to steal personal information and hard-earned money. While no one can be 100% protected, we want to help you take steps to reduce your risk.

Join us to learn about identity theft, fraud, and scams—what to watch out for, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you become a victim. Plus, one lucky attendee will win a $25 gift card!

Extra Credit Union’s Financial Education team will be presenting at Show Me the Money Day—a FREE financial and community resource fair! Hosted by Michigan State University Extension, Macomb County Health and Community Services, Macomb County Action, and in partnership with the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), this event promotes access to free financial resources, affordable financial products, and financial education.

Join us at 10 a.m. for our session on establishing and maintaining credit—and feel free to stay for the entire event until 1 p.m.!

VISIT EXTRA CREDIT UNION DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL

FREE COIN MACHINE:

Use the coin machine at our Main Office throughout April and we’ll waive the maintenance fee. This is open to members and not-yet-members.

LOBBY DAY:

Save the date for Friday, April 4! We’ll be hosting a member appreciation day from 9:30 a.m.-noon with informational resources, treats, and giveaways. Stop by our table to enter for your chance to win a money tree valued at $50.* Plus, we’ll have special giveaways and prizes for our youth members, so be sure to bring your little ones! *Members can only enter during member appreciation day. Must be 18 or older to enter.

EXTRA CREDIT UNION ENCOURAGES KIDS TO SAVE:

Open a youth account or make a $5 deposit, and we’ll match it with another $5! Plus, you’ll be entered to win $100!!*

*Includes youth savings and youth money markets. Limit one entry per member. Must be 17 or younger. $100 prize winner will be announced by 5/9/25 and funds will be deposited to youth member’s account. Valid 4/1/25-4/30/25.
